Wayne Goldenberg Named to ACS Advisory Board Honoring Late UW-Madison Professor of Organic Chemistry
Columbus, Ohio – With the recent passing of Professor Hans J. Reich, esteemed educator and pioneer in the field of Physical Organic Chemistry and NMR Spectroscopy, the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Organic Chemistry has formed a committee and an advisory board to create a new website based upon the vast resources in organic chemistry assembled by Prof. Reich over the past thirty years. Dr. Wayne Goldenberg, who earned his Ph.D. under Prof. Reich at UW-Madison, has been selected to be on this advisory board.
Prof. Reich was considered a world-renowned expert in NMR Spectroscopy for chemical structure elucidation. Chemists, scientists, and educators from around the world contacted him for assistance in analyzing NMR spectra as well as for his extensive knowledge in organic chemistry and its uses in today’s ever-evolving applications. This committee and advisory board were established jointly by the UW‑Madison Chemistry Dept. and the ACS as a means of honoring Prof. Reich and retaining his all‑encompassing resources for use by the many chemists and researchers around the globe still vested in his efforts.
Dr. Goldenberg is currently the Director of Specialty Monomers & Chemicals Division at Teckrez, Inc., a leading supplier of tackifier resins and acrylic monomers based in Jacksonville, Florida.

To facilitate Teckrez’ s expansion into acrylic monomers, the company has added two new packaging and warehousing facilities in Houston and Philadelphia to support its growing monomer customer base.
Dr. Goldenberg earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin at Madison under Prof. Hans Reich, and a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has been published nine times in peer-reviewed publications including Environmental Science & Technology, American Journal of Industrial Medicine, Archive for Organic Chemistry, Organic Letters, and Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
Teckrez, a company specializing in tackifiers and acrylic monomers, announced novel additions to its hydrogenated hydrocarbon product line. The novel products include hydrogenated C9 resins that range in softening point from 100 to 140degC. The new grades feature a broad range of compatibility in polymers from ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) to metallocene-catalyzed polyolefins (mPO). The increased range of compatibility stems from tightly controlled molecular weight distribution and varying levels of styrene modification.
The Teckrez HF, HA, and HM series hydrogenated C9 resins are produced by Henghe Materials and Science and marketed by Teckrez in North America to producers of adhesives, sealants, and coatings.
"We believe these new resins will be game-changers for our customers. They open up new performance options for traditional hot melt adhesive platforms," says Marc Jackson, president of Teckrez. "These products represent the latest output from Henghe's significant investment in capacity and capability to produce high quality C9 resins."
"Experimental quantities of the new resins are now available to Teckrez customers," continues Jackson. "We invite formulators to contact us to learn how these products can enhance the value of their formulas through improved adhesion, mileage, and physical properties."
