Teckrez Announces New Hydrocarbon Product Line

Teckrez, a company specializing in tackifiers, announced a new range of hydrogenated hydrocarbon (HC Series) resins, including fully hydrogenated (HF Series) and aromatically-modified hydrogenated (HM Series).  These are hydrogenated C9 resins that provide superior stability and performance compared to currently available hydrogenated hydrocarbon (DCPD and C5-based) resins.

The Teckrez HF and HM Series hydrogenated C9 resins are produced by Henghe Materials and Science and marketed by Teckrez in North America to producers of adhesives, sealants, and coatings.

“We are pleased Henghe Materials chose Teckrez as their exclusive distribution partner for these products in the United States,” says Marc Jackson, president of Teckrez. “Henghe made a significant investment, resulting in more than 50 thousand tons of new capacity for hydrogenated C9 resins. Until now, this type of resin has had limited availability in North America.”

These resins enable customers to differentiate packaging and converting adhesives, pressure-sensitive tape and label products, and sealants by improved adhesion, lower odor, lighter color, and better thermal-oxidative stability.

“Teckrez looks forward to helping our customers create value with these resins in applications that include adhesives, sealants, coatings, and plastic films,” continues Jackson. “Hydrogenated C9 resins offer many benefits, including light color, low odor, high adhesion and excellent thermal stability.”

Teckrez Introduces C95 Series

Teckrez introduces a range of C9-based, C5-modified tackifier resins which combine favorable economics of C9 resins with greatly improved color and odor. The Teckrez C95 series provide EVA hot melt performance comparable or better than rosin esters in many applications and, given narrow molecular weight distribution, are very effective performers with SBS polymers for PSA and assembly applications. Unlike similar US produced resins which have been beset with feedstock supply issues, Teckrez C95 series are backed by solid, consistent feedstock supply. Teckrez C95 grades are available in softening points ranging from 95 to 120 C.

Teckrez Introduces Terpene Phenolic Alternatives, Polymerized  Rosins, Super Light Color Rosin Esters

Teckrez featured Teckrez RP125 and RP150, two new terpene phenolic alternatives. Teckrez RP series provide a unique combination of high polarity, softening point and excellent compatibility with a range of adhesive polymers.

Teckrez has commercialized two new partially polymerized (dimerized) rosin grades for use in adhesives, wax compounding and other specialty applications. Teckros D85 and Teckros D95 will complement the already established highly dimerized rosin grade, Teckros D140. The new products meet a need in the U.S. market for high acid value, moderate to high softening point rosins caused by closure of the last polymerized rosin factory in the U.S. in 2009.

Teckrez has announced the commercialization of super light color rosin esters, designated Teckros SL Series, which for the first time provides North American customers with rosin ester performance advantages, such as improved specific adhesion, combined with virtually water white color. Available in a range of softening points from liquid to 85, 100, and 115°C.  Teckros SL products are useful in a range of applications including colorless hot melts, clear pressure-sensitive adhesives, glue sticks, spray adhesives and many others.

Teckrez  Featured  in  ASI  Magazine

Teckrez Managing Director, Tom Eckhardt, was interviewed in the "Pine Chemicals Forum" feature of Adhesives & Sealants Industry magazine, a leading industry publication. In the four-page article, Eckhardt describes some of the factors responsible for high demand of rosin tackifiers which includes limitations on Tall Oil and hydrocarbon resin supply and  increased use of polymers which favor rosin tackifier use. Such factors suggest that users of rosin based tackifiers can and should improve strategic sourcing positions by selecting non-Tall Oil sources from a well positioned, knowledgeable rosin tackifier supplier.
